My mother loves to save and share inspirational newspaper clippings and today I'd like to share one I've been meaning to translate for quite a while.

"Does your wife make you happy? Does she truly make you happy?" Without hesitation, the wife who had never received any complaints from her husband concerning this matter, confidently looked up at him; however; the husband candidly responded, "No, she does not make me happy." In spite of his wife's astonishment he proceeded, "She does not make me happy... !I AM happy! "Whether I'm happy or not does not depend on her but on myself. My happiness depends solely on me. I choose to be happy in every situation and in every moment of my life, because if my happiness depended on another person, thing, or circumstance on the face of the earth, I'd be in serious trouble. "Everything in our lives is continually changing: humans, wealth, our bodies, the weather, pleasures, and on and on. I could give you an endless list. Throughout my life, I have learned to make up my mind to be happy and the rest--loving, forgiving, understanding, accepting, listening, consoling and giving--I call experiences. "Some people say, 'I cannot be happy... -Because I am sick -Because I don't have enough money -Because the weather is too hot -Because someone offended me -Because someone doesn't love me anymore -Because someone does not value me' "But, what you DON'T know is that you can be happy... -In spite of... being sick -In spite of... not having enough money -In spite of... the weather being too hot -In spite of... someone offending you -In spite of... someone not loving you anymore -In spite of... someone not valuing you "Life, you see, is like riding a bicycle, you fall if you stop pedaling. "Happiness is a CHOICE that each of us can make for ourselves." |
With that said, I'm working on a new tag, so...
STAY TUNED AND KEEP PEDALING, LOVES.

Marcia this is wonderful and oh so true! I choose happiness and joy all the time in my life despite what might be happening! Love this lots!
ReplyDeletehugs, Linda
Happiness is a choice you are right, if only more people could understand this, it would be a better place..
ReplyDeleteDearest friend, How true! I'm reminded each day as my daughter was dying, her last words to me were, "I'm Happy!" Two words that have stuck with me to know that my happiness comes from within. What a lovely post, XOXO
ReplyDeleteSo very true. It doesn't take much to make us happy,if we choose to see (really see).

Very nice statement indeed!

ReplyDeleteWanted to stop by and thank you for visiting my blog. I think yours is looking fresh and lovely. It took me a while to realize that we are all responsible for our own happiness. Once I figured that out life got much easier. :o) Take care ~ Ann
ReplyDeleteThat's a great article. Thanks for the translation. Good words. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Marcia, adorable vintage print and clipping! Thanks for sharing it! xo Pam
ReplyDeleteThis is so absolutely true. Every day we have a choice to find something in our day to move us forward...to keep pedaling. We can dwell on everything that may go wrong in our lives or we can chose joy.
ReplyDeleteHERE HERE! I cannot tell you how this resonates at this moment. Oh dear, life is one huge lesson and when you stop pedaling you certainly fall off, sometimes getting up with some severe injuries. THANK YOU SO MUCH my dear friend, for this very timely message. WOW...I just may find that my trip on my "bicycle" will be one big CIRCLE that will eventually take me back where I started. Oh well...c'est la vie...la BELLE VIE!

Dear Marcia, This is so true and such a wonderful post to share with everyone. Yes, it is our choice to be happy and keep pedaling. Nothing good ever comes from dwelling on the negative in life. There is plenty of that to go around, but when we are happy it is like a magnet for others around us. It spreads like the flu I just had. LOL But in a good way. LOL
ReplyDeleteAlways an inspiration to visit you and be encouraged my friend. Thank you for stopping by and your kind comment about my RH blog feature. You are so dear.
Have a great weekend and keep pedaling.
Hugs, Celestina Marie
What a wake-up call. This is so true and what a good way to start the morning. I find your article inspiring and with so many obstacles in everyday life it is good to remember to keep on pedaling! Thanks for the inspiration dear Marcia........

These are fine words. Yes, others can add to our happiness, but if we don't possess the ability to create our own happiness, we will not find it in others. Very nice.
